Born in 1974,
Joey was raised in the Deroit metro area. At the young age of 12
he started listening to artists such as Jeff Mills a.k.a. The Wizard
on Fm 98 WWJlB spinning early house music and he has always been
into hip hop since the early days of the Sugar Hill gang, Dougie
Fresh, Afrika Bambatta and many more. Joey began his scratiching
career on his parents turntable with the Michael Jackson Thriller
album. He soon received his own pair of turn tables and his first
record featuring Dougie Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew at the age
of 14. For Joey this business started young and the passion for
the music will always be a way of life. He started DJ'ing regularly
in local teen clubs and house parties in the Detroit area before
leaving to come to California at the age of 21. Joey left Detroit
with only a dear friend, a U Haul of personal belongings and passion
for music he arrived in San Francisco to create the name you now
know.
Joey has always been known for his tricks and his signature scratching.
He also known for his flawless mixes and his ability to captivate
the
audience with his charisma and radiating passion for the music.
You will often see Joey having just as much fun behind the decks
as his audience is having grooving on the dance floor.
Joey has worked with the following artists and labels; Classified
Records featuring Mr. Mix and Billy Vidal, Digital Underground with
scratching by Joey Mazzola, Moonshine featuring Darwin Chamber co
produced and written by Joey Mazzola, Phonycs featuring Jay Walker
and Joey Mazzola, LiveDjs.com featuring Brown Boy and Joey Mazzola.
Joey has recently teamed up with David Garcia and Jay Walker starting
there own label titled Solmatic Records. Their third release to
be out this summmer features a remix by Joey Mazzola of Donald Glaudes
premiere track "People Put Your Hands Up".
Joey has also been known for rocking the air waves on the following
stations, KYLD 94.9 Fm San Francisco's House Nation featuring Saint
John and David Garcia. After 18 months David and Joey left Wild
to create there own show better known as Radioactive on KZQZ 95.7
Fm joining forces with Ron Resser a.k.a. Dj Rktech the creator of
Clockwork events. Joey is also a co-founder of LiveDjs.com teaming
up with Ministry of Sounds Dj Doubt from the UK. Along with others
they created a live streaming video and audio web site strictly
for lover of electronic music. Joey has preformed in the following
places, Detroit MI, San Francisco CA, Seattle WA, Cleveland Oh,
Chicago Il, Miami FL, Honolulu HI, Portland OR, Los Angeles CA,
Moscow ID, and Houston TX. Joey currently works with the highly
reputable Spundae crew (Sf Ca) playing regularly at events such
as Spundae and Nikita. Joey holds down residence at the following;
Recycle Sf, Clockwork Events, Livedjs.com, Tasty, Mystical Mayhem,
Harmony Productions, Boss Entertainment, Coolworld, AM Productions,
AM crew, and many more. Joey has rocked his signature four turntable
sets with the likes of, Donald Glaude, Angel Alanis, Terry Mullan,
David Garcia, Dj Doubt, Ron Resser, and many others.
Joey has a music style like no other, funky house beats of many
styles mixed up with a bit of flawless scratching and a twist of
his hip hop roots.
Joey is known for adapting to any crowd. Be on the look out for
